About Cape Hauy Hiking Tour - Tasman National Park

Book Direct with the Owner at Cape Hauy Hiking Tour - Tasman National Park with Australia Accommodation in Hobart, for all your Attraction and travel needs.

Cape Hauy Hike! One of Australia's best day hikes and part of the iconic Three Capes Track. Hike to the edge of Tasmania, via stunning coastal scenery viewing epic sea cliffs. Relax at Fortescue Bay with morning tea, afternoon lunch by the beach. Departs from Hobart, comfortable travel to the Tasman National Park. With 2000+ steps, the hike offers a challenging day trip, but certainly a rewarding one.

• Departs Hobart CBD - 8:30AM with hotel pick ups earlier.
• Scenic drive to the stunning Tasman Peninsula, via the seaside towns of Dunalley & Eagle Hawk Neck, learning the harsh convict history from this natural prison.
• Enjoy morning tea/Hot coffee while looking over the map for the days walk.
• The hike to Cape Hauy is a 9KM return track. The first section is a great warm up for the day with plenty of steps. The trail work is some of the best in the country, pleasantly placed rock steps, skirting the coastline then winding up in-land.
• Cape Hauy is the last leg of the newly opened Three Capes Track, jutting out into the Tasman Sea, the track concludes on the cliffs edge, 150M above the water. Enjoy panoramic views to Cape Pillar, Hippolyte Rock and Maria Island.
• View spectacular dolerite columns, popular with dare-devil climbers. Gaze over the sea stacks known as the "Candlestick" and "Totem Pole". Enjoy a bite to eat before returning back along the track.
• On returning to Fortescue Bay, enjoy a afternoon lunch by the beach with a cold drink. Soak your toes in the water, have a swim or walk the beach before we hit the road home.
• Arrive back to Hobart approx. 6PM - hotel drop offs on offer.

Walking time: 4 hours | Walking distance: 9KM | Track Rating 4: Steep stair sections, undulating terrain, exposed cliff lines, board walked with signed tracks.

Food: morning tea, trail snacks, afternoon lunch.

Drinks: Coffee, tea, water, wine or beer.

Terrain; Beach, rock stairs, gravel paths, coastal.

The Tasman is home to arguably some of Australia's greatest day walks, although this has for so long been over shadowed by the famous Port Arthur historic site. Travellers wanting more than convict history, will be rewarded with a day trip like no other. The tallest sea cliffs in the country, the best track work in the country, the best day walk in Australia? You be the judge, join us for a memorable day to Cape Hauy.
